Sports Injuries

Sporting injuries can occur anywhere

Sporting injuries are strains that impact the body during physical activity. Common structures that are affected include: Musncles, ligaments, tendons, joints, bones, nerves and vessels.

Examination

During examination your Osteopath will check the mobility, strength, reflexes, sensations and function of the affected areas.  A few testing will be performed and if necessary an x-ray or other scans may be required. Once our osteopaths have determined the underlying and causative factors, a variety of treatment techniques can be used to help relieve the injury.

Treatment

Osteopathic treatment can help with sporting injuries by identifying causative and contributing factors. Treatment will aim to improve joint mobility, strength and function as well as to reduce pain, occurrence and muscular strains. To help you achieve this we don't just treat the "sore spot" but also relative areas that may be contributing to your pain.

Treatment may include:

  • Massage
  • Stretches
  • Mobilisation
  • Manipulation
  • Dry needling
  • Cupping
  • Taping
  • Postural correction
  • Ergonomic advise
  • Rehabilitation exercises
