Low Back Pain

Causes

Low back pain is common and can be localised to the back but can often refer to the mid-back, pelvis, groin, hips and legs. Potential causes of low back pain are:

  • Prolonged sitting such as desk work
  • Repetitive lifting or bending or twisting
  • Pregnancy
  • Arthritis
  • Disc bulges
  • Joint dysfunction or stiffness
  • Muscular strains or tightness
  • Trauma or injuries
  • Scoliosis

Treatment

Osteopathic treatment can help with low back pain by identifying causative and contributing factors. Treatment will aim to improve joint mobility, strength and function as well as to reduce pain, occurrence and muscular strains. To help you achieve this we don't just treat the "sore spot" but relative areas that may be contributing to your pain such as mid-back, hips and pelvic region.

Treatment may include:

  • Massage
  • Stretches
  • Mobilisation
  • Manipulation
  • Dry needling
  • Cupping
  • Taping
  • Postural correction
  • Ergonomic advise
  • Rehabilitation exercises
